Why Kill Count Matters Less the Higher You Climb

Diamond and above feels different. The player with the fewest kills is sometimes the most valuable person in the lobby.

Because they're doing other things. Managing economy. Saving on force buy rounds. Dropping weapons at the right moment. Holding position around spike without taking a fight, just slowing the enemy rotation by existing there.

VALORANT doesn't measure any of this on the scoreboard. The team feels it though.

The scoreboard lies. Not always, but often enough.

Chasing kills instead of asking "how did we win that round" is one of the slowest ways to climb. Mechanics matter, but VALORANT is not just a mechanics game. Never has been.
