Kassadin is level 5. You know what's coming. One more level and the lane completely changes.

So what do you do?

Most players back off. Farm safe. Wait. And then wonder why they're losing once he hits 6.

That waiting — that's where the game was already decided.

The Power Spike Problem

Every champion has a moment where they're at their strongest. Some hit it at level 6, some at three items, some just scale forever into late game.

Take Nasus. Early on he's doing absolutely nothing — just farming, stacking, ignoring you. Looks harmless. But hit 40 minutes and that same guy is one-shotting towers. If you knew that going in, what should you have done? Gone at him early. Cut his farm. Denied him the time he needed.

That's what understanding power spikes actually means in LOL — knowing when your opponent becomes dangerous, so you know exactly when you need to move.

When You Should Apply Pressure

If the enemy is a late-game scaling champion who needs items to do anything — that early window is yours. Use it.

Take the tower. Secure drake. Give your jungler room to breathe. That 10-15 minute window where they're weak doesn't come back. Miss it and you're playing catch-up for the rest of the game.

Same logic applies to team compositions. Running Draven and Leona? That's an early game nightmare for the enemy. Don't sit back and wait for late game — your power fades as the game goes longer. Fight early, build a lead, close it out.

And if your opponent makes a mistake — bad positioning, no ward, unnecessary aggression — punish it immediately. At higher levels of LOL they won't make that mistake twice.

Playing Kayle into Renekton? You're not winning that early. Kayle is a late game champion — she gets bullied in the early levels. The right call there is to farm, survive and wait for your own power spike to arrive.

Same thing if you have no vision. No information on where the enemy jungler is means any pressure attempt could walk straight into a trap. Warding isn't optional in LOL — it's what separates calculated aggression from just dying for no reason.
