ER Requirements by Role in Genshin Impact: Never Overbuild Energy Again

Energy Recharge is the stat that tricked me the most in Genshin Impact. I thought “more ER = better” and stacked it on everything. At one point my Diluc had 200% ER. My Xingqiu? 230%. And yeah, their Bursts were always ready… but the damage was garbage. I had basically nuked their builds. Even worse, I had already wasted Resin and a couple Genshin Impact crystal refreshes farming these “god rolls.” Absolute clown move.

So, let me save you the pain. Every role needs a different ER number. If you overdo it, you’re just throwing stats away.

DPS ER in Genshin Impact: don’t repeat my mistake

I once gave Ayaka 180% ER because I thought it would make Abyss smoother. And sure, her Burst was always up… but the damage? Noodles. Felt like I was fighting slimes with a stick.

How much ER does DPS actually need?

  • Honestly? 100–120% is fine.
  • Characters like Raiden or Xiao? Even less. They battery themselves.
  • More than that, unless you’re planning to buy crystal and farm artifacts for years, you’re nerfing yourself.

Lesson learned: DPS needs CRIT + ATK. ER is just there to keep things comfortable, not to carry the build.

Burst Supports: where ER really matters

This is where I messed up the opposite way. Built Xiangling with only ~120% ER and wondered why Pyronado was never ready. Felt awful. Once I pushed her closer to 180% (with Bennett battery), she finally clicked.

Same with Xingqiu — without Burst, he’s just… bad auto attacks. With Burst up on time? God tier.

I even caved and used some buy crystal refreshes to grind Emblem artifacts just to fix their ER. For once, I didn’t regret it.

My rough rule

  • Xiangling, Xingqiu, Beidou: ~160–180% ER if you want smooth Bursts.
  • With a battery like Raiden or Bennett: you can cut 20–30% off.

Healers: Burst or not?

Not all healers care. Jean with no ER? Painful. Kokomi without enough ER? You feel the downtime instantly. But Barbara? Doesn’t matter. Her heal is skill-based.

I wasted way too many days farming ER on Barbara (yes, even did a couple Genshin Impact crystal refreshes because I was tilted). Total waste.

Rough numbers

  • Jean, Kokomi, Diona: 140–160% ER feels comfy.
  • Barbara, Sayu (EM build): don’t bother.

Shielders: stop stacking ER on Zhongli

This one’s easy. I gave Zhongli like 160% ER once, thinking his Burst would help. His shield wasn’t stronger. His team didn’t feel safer. I’d just killed his HP scaling for no reason.

TL;DR

  • Zhongli: HP, not ER.
  • Diona: ~160% if you want her Burst up.
  • Layla: somewhere in between — test your team.

Save yourself the Resin. Don’t be me.

Batteries and ER engines

Raiden is funny. People build her with 180% ER because they think “she’s the ER Archon.” But her kit generates energy. She doesn’t need that much herself. Mine felt way weaker until I cut her back down.

Favonius and Sacrificial users are the same. If you run one of those weapons, you don’t need to push ER sky high — procs cover a lot. Honestly, this is where Genshin Impact crystal farming feels like overkill. Just build enough and let passives do the work.

The dumb mistakes I made with ER

  • Overcapping DPS ER to 200% and nerfing my own damage.
  • Copying numbers from random guides without checking my actual team.
  • Farming ER rolls forever, even with buy crystal Resin refreshes, when I already had enough.

Biggest lesson: just test your rotation. If your Burst is up when you need it, you’re done. Stop stacking ER.

Final thoughts

ER isn’t about chasing huge numbers. It’s about giving each role just enough. DPS ~110%, Burst supports closer to 180%, healers and shielders depending on kit. Once you hit the threshold, stop. Put the rest of your stats into damage.

I wasted months farming the wrong pieces, even used Genshin Impact crystal refreshes on domains that didn’t help. Once I balanced ER by role, my Abyss clears got easier overnight. No magic gear needed.

So don’t make my mistake. Balance, test, move on. And if you’re sick of Resin RNG, I’ll be honest: I lean on mas4games whenever I need to keep my Genshin Impact account moving without losing weeks of farming. Saved me more than once.

VALORANT Duelist Playbook: 5 Entry Styles

Man, being a duelist in VALORANT is such a scam sometimes. You lock Jett or Raze, everyone instantly expects you to carry. If you get the first frag, you’re a god. If you die first? Suddenly you’re the reason the game is doomed. I’ve been there too many times, and after enough late nights I started noticing the ways I actually (sometimes) break into sites.
