Spent my first dozen matches in Identity V getting caught early and blaming my character. Wrong kit, wrong build. Then I watched someone else play and realized they were never surprised by anything — they knew where the cipher machines would be before the match even started.

This sounds dramatic but it's not. Where you go in the first 30 seconds determines your positioning for most of the early game. If you know which cipher cluster is closest to your spawn and which side the hunter typically enters from, those two pieces of information alone cut your early elimination rate significantly.

Learning hunter entry points costs you a few lives. You watch where they come from, die, remember it. Annoying in the moment, genuinely useful across every match on that map after.

Chest clustering matters too. Identity V doesn't scatter them randomly — certain zones concentrate chests, and hunters learn the same patterns. Knowing this means equipment and prediction come together at the same time.
